
Dr. James M. Klancnik Jr, MD
James M. Klancnik, Jr., MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous, with particular interest in acute and chronic macular disease such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disease. His surgical interests include macular holes, macular pucker, retinal detachment, and diabetic retinopathy. He uses a full range of ophthalmic imaging, including fluorescein and indocyanine-green angiography, spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, autofluorescence photography, and ultrasonography. Dr. Klancnik graduated magna cum laude from Yale University and earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and the Hobart Amory Hare Honor Medical Society. He completed internship at Lankenau Hospital, ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital, and vitreoretinal fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital and Columbia University. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at NYU, belongs to the AAO, ASRS, and ARVO, has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters, presents nationally and internationally, participates in clinical trials as principal or sub-investigator, and reviews for ophthalmology journals.
