Dr. Alison Gruen, MD
Dr. Alison Brett Gruen was born in New York City and raised in Scarsdale, New York. She graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a BA in History while completing premedical studies and played starting right wing for Princeton’s national-championship women’s rugby team. She earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, where her thesis research was published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. Dr. Gruen completed her medicine internship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident. During residency she trained under acne expert Dr. Alan Shalita, received the Kings County Doctors’ Day Award for compassion in medicine, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. She has practiced dermatology in Manhattan for many years and focuses on helping patients feel confident in their skin. Dr. Gruen lives on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and is raising two daughters.
