James Lauren, NP
James Lauren, DNP, is an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Westside Family Medicine’s Director of LGBTQ+ Care. Their practice combines comprehensive adult primary care with specialized expertise in LGBTQ+ health, sexual health, HIV prevention and treatment, PrEP, and gender-affirming care. Before joining Westside Family Medicine, James practiced at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center and completed the Keith Haring Nurse Practitioner Postgraduate Fellowship in LGBTQ+ Health. Those experiences shaped a clinical approach that is affirming, inclusive, and attentive to the barriers that can make healthcare difficult to access or navigate. James earned a Master of Science in Adult-Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner studies from Hunter College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from New York University. Their primary-care scope includes annual physicals, preventive care, acute visits, chronic-disease management, sexual health, and mental-health concerns such as anxiety and depression. James works to create a setting where patients can be open about their health without fear of judgment and can receive care that reflects who they are.
