
Dr. Jacob Levitt, MD
Jacob Oren Levitt, MD, is Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and previously served as Vice Chair of the department. He directed Mount Sinai’s dermatology residency program from 2010 to 2020 and for a decade led the second-year medical-student dermatology pathophysiology course. His clinical interests include autoimmune bullous diseases, hidradenitis suppurativa, pyoderma gangrenosum, and medical education. Dr. Levitt earned a BA in Chemistry from Yale, attended Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completed internship at Sound Shore Medical Center, and trained in dermatology at Mount Sinai. He has authored more than 60 publications, seven book chapters, a book on safety in office-based dermatologic surgery, and the educational app Dermswipe. He has spoken at American Academy of Dermatology meetings and held leadership roles in multiple New York dermatology organizations. Earlier in his career he served as a vice president of Taro Pharmaceuticals and holds patents related to acne treatment and cantharidin use. He also co-founded the ECHO Free Clinic while in medical school and has longstanding interests in martial arts, wildlife rehabilitation, and native-plant gardening.
