Dr. Robert W. Klein is a board-certified physician practicing general medical ophthalmology with particular interests in medical and laser treatment of glaucoma, including iridotomies and YAG capsulotomies, as well as diagnosis and treatment of medical retinal disease. His retinal work includes diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration treated with intravitreal injections, and retinal breaks. He served as ophthalmology consultant to the Emmy Award-winning ABC program For Your Information and consulted on two related FYI books. Dr. Klein has also been a prominent consultant to the medical-research division of a major international pharmaceutical company and spent more than 20 years as director of ophthalmology, consultant, and attending ophthalmologist at Goldwater Hospital on Roosevelt Island. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at NYU and serves on the Executive Committee of the Faculty & Friends Campaign supporting patient care, education, and research at NYU Medical Center. His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New York Society for Clinical Ophthalmology, Phi Beta Kappa, and Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed undergraduate, medical-school, ophthalmology-residency, and vitreoretinal-fellowship training at NYU.
